The Medicine

Psychedelic Therapies

Ketamine has been used in medicine since the 1960’s. Its main utilization is as an anesthetic for surgical procedures. Its high safety profile makes it the medicine of choice for procedures involving children.

More recently however it has been discovered that low doses of ketamine have been shown to significantly improve symptoms of treatment resistant depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain and a host of other chronic syndromes.

The doses used in ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) are significantly lower than doses used for anesthesia and this method has been proven to be safe under the correct supervision and training.

At lower doses used in KAP, ketamine induces an altered state of consciousness, ranging from light relaxation to deep mystical experiences. In a therapeutic setting, this can help you gain deeper self-awareness, unlocking your highest potential for healing.

The Psychedelic Therapy Process

There are typically two approaches to ketamine treatment. One way is via ketamine infusion centers, where they rely solely on the medicine to achieve benefit. However, most of that benefit is short-lived if not interwoven within a therapeutic framework. The other approach is via ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP).

At Innerbloom we believe that the healing and benefit comes from the therapy. Therefore it is important to have a space where one can integrate and process their experiences, helping plant seeds of growth.

There are three phases of treatment: preparation, the experience, and the integration.

STarting the journey

(Preparation)

    • Before starting on your healing journey, the most critical aspect is to make sure it is safe to do so.

    • Therefore, one of our team will do a free preliminary screening to rule out any major medical and psychiatric contraindications that would be unsafe for ketamine assisted psychotherapy.

    • Before we can work towards repair and healing, we must understand the root problem. The purpose of this call is to understand what's not working with your mental health and then talk about where you want it to be.

    • Once we know what your goals are, we can identify the obstacles preventing you from getting there.

    • If you move forward with the journey, this cost will be deducted from your package.

    • 1.5 hr session building rapport with Dr. Galindo.

    • Understanding how the medicine works.

    • Preparing for medicine sessions.

The experience

    • Medicine sessions are comfortably held at Innerbloom

    • Our 3 hour sessions allow for time to check in, set intentions, do meditation before the journey.

    • Headphones are provided as well as eye-shades to help you focus inward. A curated music playlist has been set beforehand to act as a medium by which you travel through your experience.

    • One of our therapists is with you 100% of the time, with all their energy focused on whatever you need.

    • Physician always onsite throughout experience and is administering the medicine.

    • Safety and comfort is our number 1 priority.

    • We begin with a low dose injection that allows for one to ‘get to know’ the medicine.

    • Based upon this experience, it gives us a guide on dosages for further sessions,  allowing for a deeper experience with the medicine if one wishes.

    • Depending on the person, ketamine’s effects last anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour and a half.

    • The way the session looks can vary, from a very introspective journey, to one that is more interactive with the therapist.

    • Once the medicine wears off, there is still ample time to relax in the treatment room in peace and quiet, or if one wishes they may continue processing their experience.

Integration

    • Following each medicine session, one will come back and partake in what we believe is the most important piece of this whole process: Integration.

    • It is in this session where one is able to process their experience, to talk about anything that arose in the medicine session and begin to integrate the journey into further healing.

    • Alongside our integration sessions we also offer coaching services to look at more practical goal setting and problem solving.

    • These sessions allow us to further take what we've learned from therapy and start implementing those changes.

  • Our bodies store alot of psychological energy and burden.

We therefore offer massage services for those that wish to integrate with somatic work as well.
