I’m Dr. Tala Kassm, a board-certified physician and certified life coach passionate about helping people find joy, balance, and purpose. Whether you’re a professional facing burnout or simply navigating life’s complexities, I’m here to guide you.
My journey began in Texas, where I grew up as the daughter of Syrian immigrants. After earning a degree in Nutrition from the University of Texas at Austin, I spent nearly a year in Nome, Alaska, working as a nutritionist. That experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the interplay between physical health and emotional well-being. I later pursued my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at A.T. Still University in Arizona, followed by a residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville and a glaucoma fellowship at the Storm Eye Institute in South Carolina.
There was a time when I felt like I was juggling too much—balancing life as a surgeon, clinician, teacher, and mother. I poured everything into my work, caring for patients and mentoring residents, but that often meant leaving little for myself and my family. Eventually, I hit a breaking point with burnout. I knew I needed a change. Life coaching opened my eyes to the possibility of living a more balanced, fulfilling life. That’s why I became a certified life coach—so I could help others rediscover joy in their own lives, just as I did.
What sets my coaching apart is my real-world experience. I’ve trained for marathons, dabbled in everything from yoga to kickboxing, and I’ve even managed to keep over 50 houseplants alive as they’ve moved with me across six states. I’m a wife, mother of two wonderful boys, and a dog mom and forever plant mom. These experiences have taught me resilience, balance, and the importance of self-compassion.
Through my coaching, I help people from various backgrounds not just survive but thrive in the lives they’ve worked hard to create. Let’s work together to uncover your potential and build the fulfilling life you deserve.

Life Outside The Clinic
When I’m not working, I love staying active and pushing my limits. I trained for and completed my first triathlon, which was both challenging and rewarding. Fitness is a big part of my life, from yoga to pilates. I enjoy going to music shows and traveling to new places with old friends. My two sons keep me on my toes, and spending time with them is one of my greatest joys. And of course, I still care for my 50+ houseplants—they’ve been with me across six states!
